History

Legacy of Flavor

The story of Vince’s Pizzeria began in 1946 when Erminio “Charlie” Yacovetti first started selling pizza from his row home at the corner of Goodman and Rising Sun Avenue in North Philadelphia. This humble operation laid the foundation for a tradition of exceptional pizza and strong community ties. After 13 years, Charlie retired in 1959, leaving behind a cherished legacy.

Charlie’s children—Viola, Angelo, Lucy, and their spouses—continued his passion by opening Charlie’s Pizzeria at 4300 Roosevelt Blvd. Not long after, Viola and Vince’s children decided to forge their own path and opened a pizzeria that would become a cherished institution. This location was open for nearly 65 years, serving its final customer in 2022.

In May 1988, Vince’s daughter, Mary Ann, her husband Ed, her sister Geraldine, and her brother Vince with his wife Becky, opened the first Vince’s Pizzeria in Northeast Philadelphia. Over the decades, Vince’s has flourished, even earning a feature in Philadelphia Magazine in 2011. The pizzeria remains a family affair, with the fourth and fifth generations continuing to carry the torch.

Expanding the family tradition, in June 2019, Mary Ann and Ed’s son and daughter-in-law opened Vince’s Pizzeria and Taproom in Wrightstown, Bucks County. Two years later, in April 2021, their daughter Shannon and son-in-law Patrick launched Vince’s Pizzeria in Fishtown. Beyond its delicious pizza, Vince’s has always been deeply rooted in the community. Whether sponsoring local little league teams, supporting Jimbo’s Squad, hosting events for charitable organizations, or hiring locally, Vince’s commitment to its neighbors remains unwavering.
